Marriage Celebrant
So Much to Think About. So Little Time. That’s Where I come In.
Allow me to introduce myself to you. I was born in Bluff and grew up in Central Otago. I fell in love with sunny Nelson after visiting my daughter who was living there in the mid-2000s. I moved to the region in 2007 and began an exciting new chapter in my life.
I dreamed of becoming a marriage celebrant. After my friends asked me in 2013 to officiate their wedding in 2014, I decided to apply. Since then, I have had the privilege of marrying many amazing couples. Being a celebrant is heart-warming. It is so gratifying for someone who loves working with people.
I have fond memories of officiating my first service. The wedding took place on a beach in Southland in 2014, with a wind chill of minus 3 degrees. This year I had the pleasure of returning to the deep south to marry the bride’s sister and partner.
I am lucky enough to have married. The result, three beautiful daughters and the addition of three very special grandchildren. I love this chapter in my own life. I believe in the constitution of marriage. It encourages and supports the unity of families.
What I love to do in my spare time.
When I’m not officiating weddings, or spending time with family, I am out and about enjoying sunny Nelson. The region is famous for its community culture.
I joined the local Toastmaster Club, High Noon in 2016. I wanted to develop my public speaking skills, necessary in this business. I recently took over the role of club President.
I also trained as a massage therapist, travelling to Hawaii to master the art, and I currently provide the service in Nelson. I also enjoy the local outdoors. Nelson has many mountain bike tracks which I explore often, and I even paddle an outrigger canoe (Waka). I joined the Maitahi Outrigger Club three years ago. A highlight for me was training to race around an Island in Rarotonga.
